Shamlaji Project and Rotary Visit, 2011
In 2011, the Rotary Club of Porterville President, Mr. Foltz,
expressed interest in visiting the Shamlaji Hospital in India, to see
first hand, how the equipment purchased from the Rotary Funds was
serving the Hospital's clients. So, PFF planned a customized tour to
India. It was a month long trip which included a visit to the Shamlaji
Hospital and attendance of the Rotary District Conference at Jaipur.
The PFF Board members, Dr. Gaurang Pandya, Ms. Betty Bluekle and Ms.
Mickie Manning also joined the trip.
Upon hearing of the visit by PFF and Rotary members, Dr. Haren Joshi
from the Shamlaji Hospital requested that Dr. Pandya provide some
training to his staff on the use of Ultrasound as a diagnostic tool.
Dr. Pandya prepared a detail to day training program. An open walk-in
ultrasound clinic was also planned for the local people as a part of
training so that the hospital staff can have practical experience under
Dr. Pandya's supervision.
