Books to Cameroon, 2008
Co-founder Tejal Pandya worked with the Interact members of
the Monache High School of Porterville, CA. to send over five hundred
books to an orphanage in Cameroon. It was an attempt to encourage high
school students to learn to think global and learn about the processes
involved in working far beyond the USA.
The students at the high school collected children's books. Tejal and
Ela Pandya approached the Porterville Unified School District for
discontinued science and math text books. PUSD generously donated a
large number of books.
By the time Teal and the Interact students were finished collecting,
they had over five hundred books. The Rotary Club of Visalia donated
the cost of shipping the books to Cameroon.
This project was truly an example of a perfect partnership among
like-minded organizations!
